The Hairless Mexican And His Friend

admin | November 30, 2010

…………

……………

…………

………….

In The Vintage Fairy Tales we like being creative,

it´s a lifeblood.

“The Hairless Mexican and his friend” are new members of our fabulous community.

The Hairless Mexican actually resembles my father,

although he is neither hairless or mexican.

(The secret is, THE MUSTACHE !!!)

…………..

The papier maché characters are made by me, with inspiration from Julie Arkell.

The “Pigfly” is now living with my dear friend and pen pal Helen in Yorkshire!

Love to all of you, new and old visitors!/

You Can Wag Your Tail But You Ain´t No Real Cool Cat

admin | November 26, 2010

“You told me you was high class
But I can see through that
Yes, you told me you was high class
But I can see through that
And daddy I know
You ain’t no real cool cat” ( Lyrics Big Mama Thornton )

………….

In The Vintage Fairy Tales it´s the opposite.

We have cool, high class visitors.

Two “Devon Rex”, with impressing artistic interest and good taste are staying with us for a while.

When I came home the other day they did an in-depth study

of a Julie Arkell brooch.

…………….

The beautiful sculpture is made by Lisa Larson a Swedish ceramic artist.

………..

Happy weekend/

Becky

Take Me To The River

admin | September 25, 2010

………..

“Take me to the river, drop me in the water.” (Talking Heads )

…………

Well, can´t we just drop the “river thing” ,

and go to the Farmers Market instead ?

I need to buy some tasty apples for the apple pie party

in The Vintage Fairy Tales, this afternoon.

Come and join the party!

……….

Love to all of you/

I´m Going Up The Country,Babe Don´t You Wanna Go

admin | June 27, 2010

…………..

“I´m going up the country, babe don´t you wanna go

I´m going to some place where I never been before

I´m going,I´m going where the water tastes like wine

We can jump in the water stay drunk all the time” ( lyrics Alan Wilson, Canned heat)

…………

Oh please do not worry about me.

I´m going,I´m going to the promised land,

and I would be very surprised and even upset, if the water tasted anything but water.

The Skating Monkey is slightly worried though, about “the jump in the water thing”…

There is no ground for anxiety,

I will probably be stitching and knitting all night long.

…………

See you soon my friends,

I´m going to travel to France for attending a workshop with Julie Arkell.

Love/

Becky

I Want My Baby, I Don´t Mean Maybe

………………

You got to love me

You got to kiss me

You got to squeeze me

You got to miss me

You got to hold, hold me in your arms

And that´s enough, well

Oh, that´s enough” ( Ray Charles )

………….

We are like soldiers of love in The Vintage Fairy Tales.

We fight for love and for afternoon tea.

When our beautiful and kindhearted Crown Princess chose a man of the people,

we supported her wholeheartedly.

From the beginning the lovers had to fight hard against evil forces,

before they could show their love in public.

Now, we are having Happy Days  with a royal wedding going on.

In the Vintage Fairy Tales we are all princes and princesses,

even if we don´t really believe in the monarchy.

We don´t need a king, we are very happy with our Management ,

The Skating Monkey!

My Love Is Your Love And Your Love Is My Love

………….

Some time ago I made a swap with the very talented Viv of Hensteethart.

Viv is one of my favorite artists and her textile art is unique!

She sent me a beautiful and whimsical necklace,

and in exchange I sent her a medal for valour and the love of my life,

The Skating Monkey!

He thinks that it´s okay that I share him with other lovely ladies…

He´s like a missionary preaching the message of love and the importance of afternoon tea.

The Skating Monkey didn´t want to travel alone so in his company was a flower,

made by me when I was attending a workshop with Julie Arkell, Briançon France, 2009.

With love /

Becky

Living In A Cup Cake World

In The Vintage Fairy Tales we don´t take life too seriously.

We take one day at a time.

We don´t care much about politics and religion and we are not terribly worried about

global warming.

We find life quite easy and comfortable.

The only thing we really care about and take very seriously is what kind of delicious pastry

we will be served for the afternoon tea.

When the delightful ladies of “Hardaker & Pope” announced a CUP CAKE COMPETITION

on their blog,

my friends in the Vintage Fairy Tales became very enthusiastic and firmly declared that this

was definitely their branch of sport.

We discussed the topic “cup cakes” for a while and decided that we wanted something festive.

The Skating Monkey came up with the brilliant idea that an amusement park

with cup cakes would be kind of nice.

The rest is history.

We won the competition and the cup cakes are eaten.

Life is back to normal again in The Vintage Fairy Tales.

Love / Becky
